Koliko su Japanci ozbiljni potvrditi \u0107e  nedavne informacije iz samog kruga tvornice koje\u00a0govore kako su Mazdini  \u010delnici pred svoje in\u017eenjere postavili te\u017eak zadatak; nova Mazda MX-5  mora imati masu manju od 900 kilograma. Do prije godinu dana plan je bio masa  manja od 1.000 kg,\u00a0 a zapravo je stvarna granica koja se u kona\u010dnici \u017eeli  posti\u0107i 800 kg.<\/p>\n<p>Kada je po prvi put predstavljena, a  bilo je to 1989., Mazda MX-5 imala je masu 955 kg. Bilo je to prije ere crash testova, prednjih i bo\u010dnih zra\u010dnih jastuka i silne  luksuzne opreme koja je malo pomalo optere\u0107ivala automobil i uskoro  postala standard. Zahvaljuju\u0107i  generalnom downsizingu, uz lak\u0161u karoseriju dolaze i jednostavnije  komponente, laganiji ovjes, manja radna zapreminapogonskih skolpova,\u00a0dok efikasnost, te samim time i ekonomi\u010dnost posljedi\u010dno rastu.
